Networks allow information into and out of different systems and are programmed to be the sole means of restricting access to information systems. They are set up in such a manner as to prevent unauthorized access to the information, and most modern systems have been programmed and installed in such a manner as to make maximum use of the networks that they are connected to maintain a connection to the outside entities. The network enables the information systems to obtain information from the outside and even references other systems that act as backups and failover systems in the case of an emergency.
A system’s performance is greatly affected by the kind of network connected to it and how much this network is draining out of the system. Lighter networks do not have much of an impact on a system’s performance. Still, heavier networks tend to slow down information systems’ performance, which is why having an efficient system design matters to the people charged with the responsibility of keeping systems running. A heavy network will mean that more information is being moved into and out of the system, signifying that more processing resources are being used to move information and process it ready to get the information to the outside world. A system that is expected to process information and deliver results to the customers will also be required to have a network of the same standards as this system so that one does not overpower the other.
Modern information systems tend to move a lot of information. In moving this information, the network gets to be used a lot, which means that resources might get subverted to moving the information. Mostly, the network administrator will determine the kind of information that can be allowed to flow over the network and place restrictions on the bandwidth and amount of data passing over the network at any one time. This is done to prevent the network from being overwhelmed while controlling the amount of information that has to be processed by the networked system. These systems also need to control the information that is allowed to get into them from the network, and this requires that firewalls get installed on them to filter out the unwanted information while lessening the amount of information that gets into the system.
In conclusion, a too demanding network on the performance of a system will significantly impact its performance, which means that the setup process for the networks must be simple enough to ensure that no information gets lost and that the network does not get to overwhelm the system. Additionally, the network administrator also needs to control how much information gets to pass over a network to control the system’s performance in terms of how much information it has to process at any one instance.
