A curious experiment with Gemini has produced an unexpected result: by keeping essentially the same prompt and making small, incremental edits, AI-generated images of a deep underground excavation seemed to become progressively more realistic. There was no explicit scoring system, no long feedback loop and no attempt to make the model evaluate itself. So what actually improved—the model, the prompt, or the human directing the experiment? The answer remains surprisingly unclear.
