The internet of things has been introduced very recently and can be considered an upgrade over the prevailing internet. It boasts powerful features and easier management with very minimal setup and a wide range of application areas to choose from for any installation of the internet. The internet of things is simply a collection of applications and devices put together to make life much easier for modern-day people and puts the power in their hands to make their homes and places of work more livable.
For instance, the internet of things can create a home automation system that regulates the brightness of the light depending on the surrounding light conditions. This is very simple and works using sensors that detect the amount of illumination in a certain corner of the home before adjusting the brightness of the lights that have been installed in the home. Another application of the internet of things is in agriculture. Automation of farming is made possible by connected devices and sensors that automate tasks such as watering plants and regulating the farm’s humidity to control better the conditions in which the plants can grow.
The internet of things is considered very powerful. Not only is it more powerful than the current internet, but it also exceeds the current internet in terms of artificial intelligence integration. Machine learning and the internet are the two concepts used in very close association with one another. They are why modern systems can perform and are fully automated and make decisions based on the much information available to the system. For the current internet, the only application instances of artificial intelligence are in a few web applications.

The internet of things can act as a closed network system that only works with a limited set of items, devices, and applications but in the bigger picture, handles functionality very well hence getting to accomplish the tasks which the person that had set up the internet of things intended for it to do. There are also more usage scenarios of the internet of things that involve machine learning and artificial intelligence than the current internet infrastructure. This is clearly an advantage that the internet of things has over the current internet.
